how toxins are making you fat

Do you know why a “toxic body” not only can make us fat, but also can make it really hard to let go of fat? If not – let me tell you!

Our body’s ability to process trash, including toxic trash, is a BIG factor in our ability to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight.

There are 2 types of toxins: water soluble and fat soluble.

Water Soluble Toxins:

These get eliminated from the body fairly easily, as long as we’re not exposed to too many of them and get backed up.

Our liver, blood, lungs, lymph, skin, and kidneys are all things we have that help us eliminate these water soluble toxins. For example the kidneys eliminate water-soluble toxins through urine and the skin eliminates water-soluble toxins through sweat…we detox every single day!

Fat Soluble Toxins:

They’re man-made and we’re exposed to them every day; through pesticides, preservatives, and additives in our food, pollutants, heavy metals, and mold in our air and water, chemicals and endocrine disruptors in the products we use on our bodies and in our homes, and other environmental chemicals. They are all highly fat soluble, which means when the body is exposed to these substances, it stores them in our fat tissue.

This happens as a form of self-defense against being poisoned, and to get that toxic trash out of our circulation and away from key organs.

If our bodies have too many toxins to process, we WILL make new fat cells and store those toxins along with fat in them! This causes easy weight gain and makes for difficult weight loss because your body does not easily give up the toxic fat it has stored.

After toxins attach to the outer cell membrane of the fat tissue, it causes the cells to continually release Leptin (the hormone that tells the brain to burn fat for energy).

It sounds like a good thing, but when Leptin is elevated too often, receptors burn out and the message isn’t heard…meaning despite exercising and trying to eat healthy foods, weight gain is inevitable, and weight loss resistance is the first of many problems.

Bottom line: A toxic body has trouble with weight loss because our own natural weight control system being overloaded and poisoned with these fat soluble toxins getting stored in our fat cells.
